These Terms govern your use of www.karin-sensei.com (the “site”) and the online Japanese lessons offered by Karin (“the teacher”, “we”). By using the site or booking a lesson you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
We offer one-on-one Japanese lessons delivered live via Cal Video. Plans available through the site are pay-as-you-go (no auto-renewal). Each lesson plan is valid for thirty (30) days from the date of purchase.
2. Booking & lessons
- Lesson times must be booked through Cal.com after payment. Available time slots depend on the teacher’s schedule.
- You may reschedule a lesson up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time via the Cal.com booking interface. Cancellations initiated by the customer are not refundable. If the teacher cancels for her own reasons, a full refund is issued for that lesson.
- Lessons not used within the 30-day validity window expire by default. Extensions are at the teacher’s discretion — please reach out before the window closes.
3. Free trial
The 30-minute free trial lesson is reserved for first-time students. One trial per person. Repeated trial bookings may be cancelled at the teacher’s discretion.
4. Payment
All prices are listed in USD and processed by Stripe at the time of purchase. We never receive or store your full card number. Foreign-exchange fees, if any, are charged by your card issuer or bank and are your responsibility.
5. Refunds
Lessons that have already been delivered are non-refundable. For undelivered lessons within the validity period, please contact the teacher — refunds are at her discretion and may be issued in full or in part.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Record, redistribute, or repost the lessons or any teaching materials without prior written consent.
- Use the lessons for any illegal, harmful, or harassing purpose.
- Attempt to disrupt or interfere with the site or its underlying services.
7. Intellectual property
All written notes, vocabulary lists, homework, and other teaching materials prepared by the teacher remain the property of the teacher. You may use them for your own learning purposes but may not republish or commercialise them.
8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Lessons are provided in good faith on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any specific outcome, exam result, or proficiency level. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the teacher’s total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid in the three (3) months preceding the claim.
9. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or cancel future lessons if a student violates these Terms or behaves abusively. In such cases any unused, paid-for lessons will be refunded pro rata.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, with a fresh “Last updated” date.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes shall be settled in the courts of Japan having jurisdiction over the teacher’s registered address.
